Here's introducing the people who made the Hackney weekend happen… and their tips specially for you…
"If you want to succeed, practice hard and keep on playing. Most of my friends just play for a little while and then stop!"
on drums…
FRANKLIN AKINSANMI (14) 'I've been playing since I was about 9. My church has really good music so I practice there. Now I feel really confident and play in concerts.' Franklin's message: "If you want to succeed, practice hard and keep on playing. Most of my friends just play for a little while and then stop!"
"Before today I didn't really look at jazz. But now I think if you like music; look at all aspects, not just one sort."
on drums, bass and keyboard…
ROBINSON AKINSANMI (16) "I've been playing since I was six. I write songs and produce tracks. I want to be a musician or produce, or do both. I like all sorts of music- R & B, garage, gospel…and I play the saxophone a bit. One of my best musicians is Stevie Wonder. He's great because he has his own style - you can see him apart."
"It's a very good learning experience and gives you a guidance on how to become a very good musician if that's your goal in life."
on Saxophone…
SEUN ARAROMI (14) "Music is important to me. I like doing as many things as I can, not just wasting my life away. I like improvisation most because that is where my strength is at. This weekend I learnt some new skills and how to improvise on certain scales or chords. A couple of months ago I started learning the violin."
"Just go and do it.. it's good for your GCSEs too!"
on keyboard …
RENE BARRATT (15) "When I was about 5 I started playing the keyboard. I like composing - making tracks. My favourite composer is … myself! It's been quite hard improvising here though, and having to play solo. I was messing that up but I got it sorted in the end."
"It's a way to learn tricks about jazz and other stuff."
on keyboard…
BAKIS KISWAKA (15) I started learning two and a half years ago. Sometimes I play by myself and sometimes with friends. I feel good when I get it right and I can show off! The work we did here on chord sequences was difficult but I enjoyed it."
"If you're going to be a musician, never forget to practice."
on drums and bass…
ANTHONY LAWRENCE (15) I've already played a lot in bands and gigs. I'm in a gospel band called 'Unity'. I've done improvisations but this weekend I found out more about chords and how to improvise using scales and with different dynamics. I find the dynamics really hard but I like grooving.
"If you wanna learn music you should come to something like this…it really helps."
on keyboard, drums and vocals…
CHRIS WOOD (14) "When I was about nine I started playing on my mum's keyboard. I'm only just started to read music - I can't do it properly yet. My favourite music is R & B, Rap, Hip Hop and I like Craig David and M & M. This course teaches you a lot of things, like using the right fingering and working as a team."

"I got to learn more stuff. Nothing was worst - it was all good." Rene

"The dynamics was the most difficult." Anthony
