Loosen yourself up and develop your sense of rhythm by progressing through these exercises.

They'll give you - a sense of pulse
- the feel of clapping on beats 2 & 4
- the characteristic phrasing of accenting the ends of phrases
- the freedom of playing on and off the beat
- a sense of physical movement

As you perform these exercises, either by yourself or - preferably - in a group (so you can interact with others) relax and enjoy yourself and clap with attitude.

Each exercise is in a particular- There are hundreds of grooves in all kinds of music, but in this section we will use Swing, Rock, Funk and Latin.

Examples 1-8 are all in the form of a 12 bar blues, which is played twice in each exercise. You find out more about the form of the Blues later, so for the moment LISTEN and INTERACT with the music.
